Juneteenth Coasters

These Juneteenth coasters are paying homage to creator of the Juneteenth flag, Ben Haith. In 1997, he decided to create a flag that is representative of freedom and the end of slavery. The flag was made to be red, white and blue since those are the colors of the American flag and to declare that American slaves and their descendants are Americans. The star represents Texas (the Lone Star State) as well as the freedom of African Americans in all 50 states. Texas is also where Juneteenth holiday started and was the last state to free all slaves. The bursting star that surrounds it represents a new beginning for African Americans.
