Ways Journaling Has Helped Me

Hey guys!

I can't believe it's been a year since I wrote my first post! Something that has helped me tremendously with writing is journaling. I remember as a kid I would always write in journals and diaries my thoughts but stopped when I got older. It wasn't until two years ago I started buying planners and journals again. It plays a huge role in my life. Here are some reasons as to why I love journaling.

Helps You Plan

Journaling helps me with planning out many things. When I'm on a tight schedule I like to plan out my week beforehand so I don't forget important things to do.

Express Yourself

I love to express myself when journaling so I tend to write all of my thoughts out. Sometimes I can become a little too emotional so when I get in my feelings I write things down. This helps me understand my own feelings and why I am feeling those emotions.

Helps Me Remember/Stay on Track

Journaling is good for referencing when you need to remember a thought or idea you had. Sometimes I forget things more than I should so when something comes to mind I write it down so I can always come back to it.

Look at the Bigger Picture

When making decisions, it is not always so easy. So when I'm imposed with uncertainty I try to write out my options. When you do that you can weigh out your pros and cons to make more rational decisions.

Self-Aware

Writing things down constantly about yourself could help you understand yourself better. You can see patterns in things you do. It creates a better environment for yourself when you think and reflect before taking action.

Journaling has helped me decide a lot of things while also defining what matters in my life. I gained a lot of clarity on my emotions and why I react to situations the way I do. Journaling has helped me create a path for what I want in my life. If you are trying to get into journaling I recommend these four things:

Ask Questions

When your mind is blank on what to write ask yourself questions. For example, How am I feeling today? Why am I feeling this way? What can I different today?

Try Listing

If you don't like to go in depth then start off by listing things off instead of sentences. Since it is your personal journal there is NO RULES to journaling.

Journal Religiously

Try and journal every single day. Create a schedule out of it and do it at the same time everyday. Have fun with it!

Own More Than One Journal

Its not necessary but the reason I like having more than one journal is because I have them for different aspects of my life. I have a daily planner, one for creating, and one for business. This helps me with the amount of clutter in one area.

What are some things that you do when journaling?
